Web site building Process coolclick

Getting Started

Training

After your web site is live, we will meet with you (either in person or via the phone), and teach you how to log into your web based site and update content, load pictures and make other edits. We can also assign different levels of access to your staff members. We will also show you how to create content that will best optimize your site in the search engines. Although this one time training is usually sufficient, we are always available to answer questions and help out should you become stuck.

Function & Design Planning

Our first meeting will take place either in person or on the phone. We have clients all over the world, so we are happy to work over the phone and by email. In the initial meeting, we will discuss the purpose and core functionality of your website. We will then create a main navigational menu structure, in addition to any details needed for any interactive elements. We will also discuss design concepts, and encourage our  clients to show us examples of design styles that they like. After the basic navigational information gathering phase, we will move onto the design and layout phase.

Maintenance

While we 'give you the keys' to drive your site, we are happy to help in maintaining sites should you find yourself short on time. In addition to content maintenance, we also recommend ongoing site maintenance which includes Drupal upgrades and security patches. It's a good idea to do this every 6 months, and it's usually very inexpensive as a typical Drupal update only takes about one hour.

Design & Mock-Up

We will design the homepage layout and subpage example in Photoshop and then send you the flat design files to review. These conceptual design files will serve as the overall guide for the look and feel of your website. If there are interactive elements involved in your site, then we will submit design concepts for those as well. Once you have approved the design, we proceed to the coding phase when your new CMS site is custom built.

Coding

The Drupal site build is often what takes the most time. An average CMS site can take 2-3 weeks to build out. A test site will be shown to the client to work out any functionality and navigation issues. Once the site functionality is complete and tested, we will make your site live on your hosting platform and point your Domain Name to the IP. As part of every CMS build, we will make sure your site has the proper meta tags and title tags included, and Google Anayltics code is added. Your site will also be submitted to Bing and Yahoo.
